Late Wednesday results: Philipsburg-Osceola Lady Mounties Stymied By Punxsutawney

The Philipsburg-Osceola Lady Mounties couldn’t keep up with Punxsutawney and fell 7-0 on Wednesday at Punxsutawney Ball Fields.

Punxsutawney got on the board in the first inning after Avary Powell hit a solo home run to center field.

The Chucks scored three runs in the bottom of the third on a home run to center field by Powell.

Brinley Hallman homered to left field, scoring three runs in the bottom of the fifth for the Punxsutawney.

Makenna Gula earned the win for the Lady Chucks. The starter allowed three hits and zero runs over seven innings, striking out 11 and walking three. Alivia Bizzarri took the loss for the Lady Mounties. The righty went four innings, allowing four runs on three hits, striking out seven and walking three.

Morgan Vaughn, Emily Gustkey, and Cameron Chverchko each collected one hit for Philipsburg-Osceola. The Lady Mounties were sure-handed and didn’t commit a single error. Gustkey made the most plays with 10.

Powell led Punxsutawney with four runs batted in. The catcher went 3-for-3 on the day. The Chucks turned one double play in the game. Punxsutawney didn’t commit a single error in the field. Powell had the most chances in the field with 14.

The  Lady Mounties play at home on Monday against Bedford in their next game.
