Lock Haven Men’s Basketball falls on the road to Shippensburg

The LHU men’s basketball team dropped a conference-road matchup with Shippensburg. 

 

SHIPPENSBURG, Pa. –The Lock Haven University men’s basketball team (6-9, 3-8 PSAC) dropped a road matchup with Shippensburg University (12-4, 9-2 PSAC), 69-58, in Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) action on Saturday afternoon.

 

The Bald Eagles and Raiders traded baskets in the early going, and a Dymir Montague (Philadelphia, Pa./Neumann-Goretti) knotted the two sides up at 9-9 at the 12-minute mark. Shippensburg responded with a 12-0 run to jump out to a 21-9 lead. Another Lock Haven run closed the gap to 26-21, before a late spurt from the Raiders moved the halftime advantage to 31-24.

 

Out of the locker room in the second half, Shippensburg extended its lead to 50-30 in the opening eight minutes. Lock Haven closed the lead to single digits at 59-50, but the Raiders held off the advance and tightened up late to bring home a 69-58 win.

 

Jesse McPherson (Philadelphia, Pa./Archbishop Carroll) led the Bald Eagles in scoring with 20 points on 8-14 from the field. The senior notched his first double-double of the year as he grabbed 10 boards.

 

DaQuan Granberry (Linwood, Pa./Chichester) also tallied a double-double with 12 points and 10 rebounds. Eli Washington (Lancaster, Pa./Hempfield) rounded out the Bald Eagle scoring with eight and added six rebounds of his own.

 

Shippensburg held a slight 43-42 advantage on the glass and shot 44 percent from the field on their way to the win.

 

Up Next: 

The Bald Eagles host Millersville on Monday (Jan. 24) in Thomas Fieldhouse. That matchup with the Marauders is set for a 7:30 p.m. tipoff.
