Lose, Brown go yard in 11-1 Lady Raiders win

BELLEFONTE – Friday, the Bellefonte Lady Raiders softball team looked to continue its winning ways in their afternoon Laurel Highlands match up against Somerset (4-9).
Bellefonte had its offense primed and ready to go as they picked up the easy 11-1 victory in front of the home crowd.
Jaylee Lose led the offensive attack posting two home runs( grand slam and three-run home run) and finished with 7RBIs.
“She (Lose) did really well for us tonight. She saw the ball great and crushed it,” said Bellefonte coach Erica DeVinney. “She’s in a really good spot and she saw the ball well.”
Offensively, Bellefonte pounded out 11 hits, 11 runs in the five inning 11-1 victory.
Picking up multiple hits for the Lady Raiders were Adrienne Masullo (2-for-2 run ), Lose (2-for-3 7RBIs, 2runs), Sloan Moore (2-for-3, RBI, run), Taylor Brown (2-for-2 3RBIs, 3runs).
Masullo got the win on the afternoon going four innings and allowing just one run.
Taking the loss for the Golden Eagles was Brooklynn Thomas.
Speaking of the long ball, Taylor Brown got the festivities started for Bellefonte as she blasted a Thomas offering out for a2-run homerun that hit the top of the foul pole, scoring Alaina Smith who walked earlier.
Somerset cut the lead in half in the second.
Somerset’s Martin led off the inning with a walk. She moved up to second on a slow grounder by Ava Baumgardner who hustled it out for the infield single.
Martin scored from second on a ground ball single by Jo Shambaugh, making it a 2-1 contest.
Masullo settled in and struck out the next three batters and keeping the Lady Raiders’ lead at 2-1.
The Lady Raiders’ hurler looked strong in the third inning striking out her fifth and sixth strike out en route to 1-2-3 inning.
The long ball came into action in the bottom of the third. Bellefonte had a single by Smith to start the inning.
Brown, who hit the first inning roundtripper, was walked to set things up for power hitter Jaylee Lose. Lose plastered a shot way past the centerfield fence for the 3-run homer, upping the score to 5-1 after three.
Bellefonte put in pitcher Abby Herr in the fifth.
Masullo left the circle for the day allowing on run on one hit and striking out seven Golden Eagles.
She was very effective as she struck out her first two batters she faced and was able to work out of a jam with the bases loaded, keeping the Lady Raiders with the 9-run lead going into the bottom of the fifth.
In the bottom of the fifth, the Red Raiders scored the run they needed to end the contest and end the week with a convincing win.
