MC 10s topped Fury; Remains unbeaten

Still on top.

The MIfflin County girls 10Us remain unbeaten and once tied as they defeated a very tough PSA Fury team Saturday 2-1.

MIfflin County out shot their opponent 9-6 and held the advantage in corner opportunities 4-2.

Offensively, the Huskies started out strong quickly pinning the Fury down in their back- third.

It’s defense was a huge part of that as the back-line didn’t allow any kind of an easy look as the goal.

MIfflin County scored first when Katelyn Kwitervich muscled her way down the left side of the field and blasted past the opposing goalie, making it 1-0.

Back and forth went the possessions as neither team could find a stronghold to get a clear shot from.

But as the clock started winding down in the first, Addison Benfer got loose in front of the goal and was relentless to score putting it past a defender and the goalie to end the first half with MC taking the 2-0 advantage.

The Fury came out charged up and ready to go in the second and was even able to cut the lead to 2-1 midway through the second.

But it wasn’t enough as the MIfflin County defense held, earning the Huskies the hard fought 2-1 victory.
