MC 10Us battles tough but falls to a strong Flood City team in the title tilt

LEWISTOWN – In the final game at Frank Pupo Memorial Field, the MIfflin County 10U All-Stars went for the Cal Ripken Championship contest Sunday afternoon against a dominating Flood City.

It was a close championship contest but it would be Flood City that captures the title outlasting MIfflin County 15-9 in a hard fought battle.

Mifflin County led off with lead early on posting two runs in the first.

Coming in as the number two seed, MIfflin County got the first at bats.

Landon Cunningham got the offense rolling with a sizzling single into centerfield.

Greyson Getz tripled to score Cunningham, giving MIfflin County a 1-0 advantage.

Getz scored on a Flood City wild pitch, upping the MC lead to a 2-0 contest.

Defensively, the MIfflin County defense kept Flood City at bay going into the second inning.

Things continued to go MIfflin County’s way as they added two more runs in the inning.

Crosby Sunderland took advantage of a Flood City miscue, advancing to first.

He and teammate Wyatt Foltz later scored on a 2-RBI single by Cunningham, upping the MC lead to 4-0.

However, the 2-0 Flood City team exploded for eight runs in the bottom of the inning, taking the lead at 8-4.

Mifflin County battled back as Sunderland and Huck Peachey and Cunningham all scored on a double by Getz, cutting the contest to a 9-7 game in the fourth.

But the crew from Flood City came back with guns a blazing picking up another five run fourth.

Mifflin County refused to go down without a fight as they added two more runs while Flood City tallied one.

But it wouldn’t be enough as Flood City took the title.

However, MIfflin County is still alive as they placed a close second.
