MC 13s start their state post season with extra inning win over Lackawanna

The Mifflin County 13-year old Babe Ruth All-Stars notched a very tough 8-7 extra inning win against Lackawanna early in the opening day of state playoffs at McAlisterville.

Reese Christine was deadly from the plate posting a four hit morning.

He also finished with an RBI.

Jayden Smith also finished with an RBI in the win.

Teammate Max Yoder followed with two hits in the victory.

Playing at an 8:30 start time, it took Mifflin County little time to take a 3-0 after two.

MC led 3-0 going into the bottom of the second.

Lackawanna plated two runs in the third to start the top of 4th with a 3-2 contest with the locals leading.

However, the two offenses blew up and battled tough as they went into the bottom of the fifth tied at seven.

Neither team could get a run across in the regular portion of the contest and we’re forced to go into an extra inning before a winner would be decided.

The MC 13’s are in extra innings! Tied 7-7 going into extras, Mifflin County would get the run they needed while keeping Lackawanna off the boards to take the victory.

Juniata County started their series with a tough 14-8 loss against Tri-County.

Both teams will be back in action Sunday.
