MC 15s fall to familiar foe West End 5-0

MILROY – It wasn’t quite the night the Mifflin County fans were hoping for as the hometown Mifflin County 15-year olds fell 5-0 to a familiar foe in West End in the second round of Regional action.

West End sent pitcher Logan Ott to  pitch against the locals.

Ott had his pitches working from beginning to end, finishing with a 5-0 shut out of the “Boys in Blue”.

Ott went seven complete, striking out 11 batters and gave up only two hits on the evening.

Picking up Mifflin County’s two hits were Brian Yetter and Casey Conner.

West End got its offense started in its opening at bats, plating two.

Leadoff hitter Dallas Griess got things started on the right foot, singling to left field.

Ott helped his cause as he singled  to put runners on first and third.

Teammate Dane Armson doubled both Griess and Ott, giving them the early 2-0 advantage.

Ott sent Mifflin County in order in the bottom of the inning.

Both team defenses took over in the game until the top of the sixth, when West End added to its lead.

Once again Ott started a rally, walking to start out the inning.

Armson also walked to put runners on first and second.

With one out, Derek Gehr loaded the bases when he walked as well.

Owen Ardnt picked up an RBI when he also walked, scoring Ott.

Caleb Reddy brought in Armson and Gehr on a double to left centerfield, adding to the lead at 5-0.

That would all Ott would need as Mifflin County would get a runner to as close as third before stopping the MC potential rally.

Mifflin County will be back in action Sunday at 2pm.
