MC girls fall to veteran Cumberland Valley team

It was a tough night on the hardwood for the injury riddled MIfflin County girls basketball team as they went up against Mid-Penn foe Cumberland Valley Friday.

The Eagles sizzled in the first half, outscoring the Lady Huskies 33-5 en route to the 54-19 victory.

Leading the way for MIfflin County was Kate Knable with nine.

Teammates Marissa Gingrich and Brianna Bodtorf chipped in four each.

Cumberland Valley was led by Hannah Sauve and Kylie Holcomb who both had a game-high 10.

Teammates Julie Jekot and Dejah Hill both chopped in with nine.

In the first quarter, the Eagles has the hot hand in the period outscoring MIfflin County 16-3.

Things didn’t fare much better for MIfflin County in the second period as it found itself once again being outscored. This time CV outscored the Lady Huskies 17-2.

Offensively, things got a little better in the second half for MIfflin County as it posted seven points each in both periods.

However, Cumberland Valley continued its Ariel assault, scoring 21 en route to the victory.
