MC girls open season in convincing fashion with win over Red Land

The MIfflin County girls basketball team got its season started in fine fashion as they notched a 43-30 victory over Red Land.

Leading the way for the Lady Huskies Emma Weaver who netted 13.

Teammate Briana Bodtorf followed up with a 10-point effort.

Defensively, the “Purple and Black attack” refused to allow a double-digit scorer for Red Land.

In the first quarter, the Lady Huskies shut out Red Land while its offense scored 10.

Leading scorer in the period was Emma Weaver with six points. She hit two from beyond the arc.

Things were a little closer in the second quarter as MIfflin County only outscored Red Land 13-10.

The Huskies got eight of the 13 points from Weaver.

At the half, MIfflin County held a 23-10 advantage.

MIfflin County added another 13 in the third while its defense clamped back down to only six in the period.

Bodtorf led the way with five.

In the final stanza, MIfflin County was outscored 14-7 but still was able to hold onto the opening night victory.
