MC honors Husky Athletes at 13th awards banquet

LEWISTOWN- It was a night of celebration as  Mifflin County High school hosted the Mifflin County Sports  Award assembly tonight.

The night featured the acknowledgement of the wonderful athletes’ hard work on the field and in the classroom.

The winner of the Tish Maclay award went to Addie Fultz. Fultz has done an outstanding job in her sports career.

The winner of the Jaynee Carolus Award went to Dakota Hershberger.

If you have forgotten, let me remind you. Hershberger reached a milestone recording 800 kills in during her volleyball career Hershberger also is the all-time homerun leader for the Huskies softball team.

Lyza Underhill has been an outstanding runner in track she has also done well in Field Hockey.

Underhill racked up multiple awards.

Brynn Knepp was awarded Senior Scholar athlete her teammates Lillie Markley and Leah Alexander.
That was followed up with individual awards for the Lady Huskies soccer team lead by coach Barrett Knepp.

Deakon Schaeffer took home the Ufema football award for the second straight year.

“It feels good knowing I won it two years in a row. I know how hard I worked for it,” Schaeffer said. “ I put the work in and it really showed on the field. I’m really happy and proud of my teammates that want to work as well.”

Amelia Leister took home the Jenna Feathers Girls basketball ward.

“It makes me feel proud to be able to work hard to win this award after Marisa Gingrich won it and being there for my team,” said Leister.

The big man on the court,  Jayden Bilger took home the Rothrock Webber Boys basketball award.

“I’m very grateful for my teammates and the coaches that helped me get here,” said Bilger. “I came in third last year for this award. I’ll  use this as a reminder to get better every day come out and play my best.”

Parker Kearns followed up to bring home the Rod Tate Wrestling award.

“It means a lot it really shows the hard work and dedication,” Kearns said. “ I put in my whole life with wrestling.  There’s been some great wrestlers for Mifflin County. It feels good to be along the names with those guys.”

The place went crazy when the unified Bocce Ball star Lucas Garner was awarded to an individual award in his awesome talent and the joy he brings to everyone.

Xavier Smith won the Riden/Hockenbrock Award.

Mary Kanagy,Ava Kratzer And Amelia Coffey won the Ron Sprecher award. Coffey was awarded as the top winner.

Cody Fultz Caden Bell were runners up while Reese Cubbison was the top winner on the boys side.

The Husky Club scholarships were awarded to Hallie Alexander Yohn,Lexi Corson, Dakota Hersherberger,Ryanna Smith.
