MC Huskies celebrate at Season Ending Awards Banquet

LEWISTOWN – Mifflin County held its annual all sports recognition night at the Mifflin County High School to present all the awards that the hard working student athletes worked for to achieve perseverance and greatness.
Mifflin County had more athletes get into the history books all having stellar years setting the bar high.
The Tish Maclay Field hockey award was awarded to Bailey Neff she took home this year’s honors despite the 1-13 season.
Neff didn’t disappoint she continues to be a leader on her team and continues to find ways to make plays and score goals Maddie Norman took second runner up while Addie Fultz finished runner up in this years award.
“It feels really great I just put a lot of effort into field hockey,” Bailey Neff said. “I love playing it i just think putting a lot of effort into it and like just doing your best you can do.”
Mifflin County softball star Riley Hine took home the Jaynee Carolus softball award this year. Malaina Maxwell was second runner up while Ava Baker finished runner up. All three players were at their best this season. Maxwell led in batting average majority of the season while Baker ended the season hitting .435.
The two sport athlete Evan Strohecker took home the Buck Riden/Jim Hockenbrock honors.
“ I haven’t played in a while so coming back to win this award it means a lot to me and you know I was a team player,” said Evan Strohecker. “I was not expecting this tonight. I had a lot of fun this season. Grady Hoppel finished second runner up while Aidan Attivo finished runner up. Attivo is also a two sport athlete. Attivo would take home the Big Lewie Radio basketball award where he had an outstanding season the lebon valley commit showed grit and toughness all season long. MIfflin County standouts Josh Hartzler and Jack Curry received runner up votes. Curry was runner up both will be back for another year where head coach Wade Curry and Mifflin County will look to make it back to districts.
The Big guy Peyton Kearns took home the Rod Tate honors. Andrew Alexander was second in the votes Avery Aurand was first runner up Kearns Alexander and Aurand all made it to States.
Mackenzie Peachey took home the Jenna Feathers award honors. Jayda Kanagy finished second runner up while Payton Weaver took runner up honors.
“It just really means alot to me. I don’t know if i was really expecting it,” said. “Mackenzie Peachy. Last year I was first runner up so it does mean a lot and just can carry a legacy. I guess and I’ll just keep working harder because there still more to come for me and a lot more times.”
MIfflin County’s star football player Cyrell Green claimed his first ever Alex Ufema BIg Lewie football award. Josh Maldonado was second runner up while Avery Aurand was first runner up.
“To be honest, I just stay patient just give it all to God and let it be in his will and do it in his purpose. God is great and he would get the job done for you so just stay confident with God,” said Cyrell Green.
Harrison Bulick took home Senior scholar awards for football he was part of the magic MIfflin County fans will never forget when Bulick ran a pick six back for a touchdown on homecoming night to upset Waynesboro 20-14 .
Carter Smith and Amila Coffey took home the Ron Sprecher honors. Reese Cubbinson took home second runner up while Wyatt Kauffman took home runner up. Ava Wagner took home runner up honors and Krazter took home second runner up.
Soccer star and Penn State New Brunswick college commit Leah Alexander,Aurand, Nathan Parkes, Hannah, Sharpe, Cameron Whitters took home Huskies Club Scholarships awards. Hine and Aurand were named Sportsman Scholarship winners.
