MC United 11Us finish season as CPYSL champions

You can call them the champs!

On Saturday, the MIfflin County United 11Us boys’ soccer team capped off an undefeated 8-0 season and along with that comes the Central Pennsylvania Youth Soccer League Championship.

MIfflin County’s last game was against the Dynamos.

In a contest where the all around play by United was brought out front and center, they topped the hard working Dynamos 6-1 at Lewistown’s Rec Park.

“I was really proud of the kids today. This was the best we saw the kids move the ball all season,” said MIfflin County coach Ryan Russler. “They’ve played their hearts out all year and it was nice to see the season end like this.”

MIfflin County’s was tested on defense early and they came out making a statement as they continually kept the Dynamos away from the goal area. Luke Sauer came up big as he was able to clear the ball numerous times to stop a potential threat in the back-third.

Offensively, the United team was led by the speed and ball movement of Kolt Dixon.

He provided the breakaway speed that allowed MIfflin County to change the field and put them in line for a chance at a goal. After shooting the first shot of the game, Dixon was able to find the net on a breakaway blast at the net, making it 1-0.

Minutes later, he was back at it again, putting his team up by two.

Offensively, the United picked up five first half corners.

MIfflin County picked up its third goal of the day off a cross that was picked up by Evan Hook and sent sailing through to the back of the net.

That was all the scoring that MIfflin County would need in the half as the defense took over as well as goalie Jared Sickels.

Going into the intermission, MIfflin County had nine shots, five corners and Sickels had three saves in the 3-goal advantage.

MIfflin County picked up where it left off in the first half, as Dixon led the charge once again as the United continued to knock on the door looking for more goals.

The added its fourth goal when Levi Anderson hit a pinpoint pass to Dixon and then he found the goal for the third time and the hat trick.

But the Dynamos refused to give up as the posted a shot that hit the top corner, cutting it to a 4-1 contest.

But back came MIfflin County. After coming close early in the half, Dylan Noerr’s patience paid off as he plastered a goal, upping the game to a 5-1 advantage.

Sauer just missed a hard luck shot as he got open and his shot hit the crossbar.

However, the United crew finished off the scoring when Sickels broke through the middle of the defense and hit nothing but net, giving MIfflin County the 6-0 victory and the perfect record.
