MC XC finishes week with a competitive battle versus Juniata and Williamsport

REEDSVILLE – The Mifflin County Boys and Girls duked it out on the cross country course in a dual meet between Mifflin County, Williamsport and Juniata.

The  Millionaires came ready to run as they took first and second on the boys side. It wouldn’t be until Zayden Dashen would make a late push with solid effort to get by Peter Fisher to take third place with a time of 17:41. Launder Waldman would take the race crossing the finish line with 17:21.Mifflin County also got a sixth place finish from Connor Lynch Mifflin County would had 35 team points.Juniata Josiah Barner would place fifth that would be the Indians best finsher Coy Kerstetter would place ninth.

“We wanted to give our varsity runners some rest so it was an opportunity for JV to run up front and Zayden was just awesome out there,” said Mifflin County coach Alex Monroe. “And he’s been kind of on that 18 minute mark for so long he’s been frustrated. And I said “Hey just hang with it.You know you might get that breakthrough.” And he got that today and hopefully one more obviously next week. But they were they were strong all around today.

On the Girls side, Isabelle Sander was lead early and often crossing the line first with a time of 18:46 her sister Madeline Sander was right behind her as they finished 19:10 in the sister duo.Juniata would then take the next two spots with Carolyn Hidenreich and Sulvia Brubaker grabbing third and fourth.

Mifflin County grinded it out Amilia Coffey and Liberty Cook took seven and eighth Abigail Anderson also had a 5k best personal record supporting a time of  22:19.

“So what we saw today is all the girls running together in pairs you know. So Mia was helping to push Liberty along. Abby was pushing Lizzie along,” said Mifflin County girls coach Neil Breneman. “Lizzie had a PR phenomenal PR and i think Abby might have actually had herself PR as well so we had numerous personal bests today. I didn’t expect that necessarily on a meet.That’s after school at the end of the day so i think it sets them up for want we want to see and expect to see.”
