MC XC girls end regular season against Juniata, Williamsport

The Mifflin County Cross Country Lady Huskies ran their last regular season meet at home Thursday evening and posted 3 new personal records. The cool, Fall evening, began with a celebration of the 10 seniors on the boys and girls teams. The Lady Husky seniors were Amilia Coffey, Ava Kratzer, Caroline Palopoli, and Maya Morgan. The four seniors collectively tally 24 years of cross country running experience. They have each served as key components of the Lady Huskies team.

The team faced off against a strong Williamsport team and was defeated 18-38. They also faced Juniata and lost a close meet, 26-29. Despite the team score we had a lot of great runs tonight. Abby Anderson, Lizzy Massie, and Carys Morgan each posted PRs in their last regular season meet of the year. Abby has continued to get stronger despite just finishing a season of balancing two sports. Lizzy had a breakout year, improving by 2 minutes throughout the season. I never doubted that she was going to break into the 22’s and tonight was a great night to do it.

What I really loved tonight was watching our team members run as a team. Amilia and Liberty were able to run together for much of the race as well as Abby and Lizzy. We always emphasize they can be better together. Several of the others also tried to run in packs and helped each other be more successful on the course.

With the close of the regular season, all eyes are now on Districts on Saturday, October 25. The District 6 meet is held on the Huskies home course at Indian Valley Elementary Center.
