MC XC team sweeps Central Dauphin East

Coming out of the Big Valley Invitational, the MIfflin County boys and girls cross country team picked up impressive wins over Central Dauphin East. The boys won a 22-38 contest while the girls won 15-50.

Leading the way for the girls was Kylee Cubbison who took first with a time of 21:22.

Placing second was Addie Oarson with a time of 23:22.

MIfflin County also got a third place finish by Justice Sheaffer with a 27:00 finish.

Teammates Sarah Diehl and Ava Wagner’s finished in fifth and sixth place with times of 31:50 and 33:27.

“It was a hot day for running. Kylee and Addie still ran a strong race led for the team finishing in the top two spots. We have been training the last three weeks in the morning hours to dodge the heat but today there was no avoiding it,” said MIfflin County coach Neil Breneman. “Not only that the girls had to work through the emotions with the first day of school. Nevertheless, they continued to work hard and put in a good effort.”

On the boys’ side, Chris Royer finished second for the boys with a time of 18:44.

Teammates, Cody Fultz, Caden Bell and Ben Hartzler finished third, fourth and fifth with times of 19:11, 19:16 and 19:19, respectively.

Rounding out the top 10 MIfflin County finishers were Luke Breneman and Dominic Reed.

“I think the kids were still a little tired from the BVI yet. Today it was a 2-lap course and the first lap we were in trouble. CD East jumped out and was in pretty good shape position wise. They were ahead of us. But the boys hung tough and ran a good second loop and pulled out the victory,” said MIfflin County boys coach Greg Loht.
