Melius, DMR soars at Saint Valentine’s Invite to lead Men’s Track & Field

 

 

The LHU men’s indoor track team laid down a blistering time in the DMR to headline a busy day. 

 

LOCK HAVEN, Pa. – The Lock Haven University men’s indoor track and field team was in action today at the Saint Valentine’s Invite at Boston University and at the Fast Track National Invite in Staten Island, New York.

 

The highlight of the day came at the Saint Valentine’s Invite as the Bald Eagle Distance Medley Relay team stole the show.

 

In limited day-one action, the DMR team dropped the fastest time in the Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) and a top-20 NCAA time of 10:02.69. In the first leg, Kirk Stewart (South Park, Pa./South Park) got The Haven off and running with a time of 3:04 in the 1,200-meters. Ryan Miller (Bradford, Pa./Bradford) kept things rolling in the 400-meters with a time of 52.39. In the 800-meters, Matthew Muthler (Pottstown, Pa./Owen J. Roberts) laid down a strong 1:56.45 to keep the Bald Eagles flying. Gage Krall (Jonestown, Pa./Northern Lebanon) brought home the anchor leg in the 1,600-meters and set a blazing time of 4:09. The Bald Eagles speedy time also hit an NCAA provisional qualifying time.

 

At the Fast Track National Invite, Austin Kravetz (Altoona, Pa./Altoona) hit career bests in the 60-meters and the long jump. Kravetz narrowly missed a PSAC mark with a 7.14 in the 60m and followed it up with a 5.99m mark in the long jump.

 

Austin Melius (Bellefonte, Pa./Bellefonte) crushed his personal-best time in the mile and just narrowly missed a PSAC qualifying time at 4:30.94.
