Juniata Men’s Hoops Earn ECAC Tournament Bid, Host Waynesburg on Wednesday

DANBURY, Conn.- The Juniata College men’s basketball team earned a spot in the 2022 ECAC Division III Men’s Basketball Championship, snagging the seventh seed.

The Eagles will host #10 Waynesburg University (14-13) of the President’s Athletic Conference on Wednesday at 7:00 PM in Memorial Gymnasium. The winner will then travel to #2 Rutgers-Newark to take on the weekend hosts, Friday at 7:30 PM.

Juniata will serve as the Landmark Conference’s sole representative in the ECAC Tournament this year.

The other three pods are as follows:

No. 1 Alvernia University receives a bye to Friday’s action while No. 8 Gwynedd Mercy will host No. 9 William Paterson University on Wednesday.
No. 4  Penn State – Altoona will match up with No. 5 United States Merchant Marine Academy on Friday.
No. 3 PSU – Behrend takes on No. 6 Manhattanville College on Friday.

The winners will all then meet up at Rutgers-Newark on Friday to complete the remainder of the tournament.

 First Round – Wednesday, March 2 
Game #1: No. 8 Gwynedd Mercy University* vs. No. 9 William Paterson University – 7:00 p.m.
Game #2: No. 7 Juniata College* vs. No. 10 Waynesburg University – 7:00 p.m.

Quarterfinals – Friday, March 4 at Rutgers Newark
Game #3: Alvernia vs. Winner of Game #1 – 12:00 p.m.
Game #4: PSU Altoona vs. USMMA – 2:30 p.m.
Game #5: PSU Behrend vs. Manhattanville – 5:00 p.m.
Game #6: Rutgers Newark vs Winner of Game #2 – 7:30 p.m.
Semifinals – Saturday, March 5 at Rutgers Newark
Game #7: Game #3 Winner vs. Game #4 Winner – 3:00 p.m.
Game #8: Game #5 Winner vs Game #6 Winner – 5:30 p.m.
Championship – Sunday, March 6 at Rutgers Newark
Winner Game #7 vs. Winner Game #8 – 1:00 p.m.
