Mifflin County 13s defeat Drexel Hill to stay undefeated

MCALISTERVILLE – The Mifflin County 13s’ offense exploded early and often and held on late to defeat UDHL 11-8 in the second day of Babe Ruth State action Sunday.

Mifflin County roped out 13 hits in the victory.

Leading the offense for MC were Evan Strohecker (2-for-2, 2 runs scored and 2 RBIs), Logan Ruth (2-for-3, 2 runs) and Jaden Smith (2-for-2, 2 runs).

In the first, Strohecker led off the game with a walk.

Madden Weaver followed with a walk of his own.

Reese Christine hustled out an infield slow bouncer to third and reached base while the ball bounced out of the first baseman’s glove and allowing both Strohecker and Weaver to score on the play.

On the play, Christine landed on third.

He later scored on a wild pitch.

Logan Ruth followed up with a single to right centerfield.

Jaden Smith also hustled out an infield hit as well and moved up a base on a Drexel Hill error.

Max Yoder loaded the bases with the third walk of the inning.

Elliott Yetter smacked an RBI single into shallow right, scoring Ruth.

Nazae Traxler smoked a blistering grounder down third baseline, clearing off the bases and leaving him with a 3-RBI double. But he was called out trying to stretch a double into a triple.

With two outs, Strohecker blasted a single into right.

Weaver followed with an RBI single into right,making it 8-0.

Christine ended the innings scoring as he singled to bring home Weaver.

Drexel Hill got on the board in the bottom of the inning, scoring one.

Leadoff hitter Sergio Hernandez walked and was brought home on an RBI single by Noah Meno.

Mifflin County added another run in the second.

Smith blasted a double and then scored on an RBI single by Strohecker, upping the MC lead to 10-1.

Despite being outscored 7-1 the rest of the way, Mifflin County still came out with their hands raised, winning the contest, 11-8.
