Mifflin County announces contingency plans for Wednesday graduation

From MC Athletic Director Tish Maclay
Dear Senior and Parent

For those seniors in the alphabet Q-Z that are scheduled for tomorrow night’s ceremony, we are tracking the weather and are developing a contingency plan in the event that the weather is severe.  In the event that we have severe weather with high winds, lightening, etc. we will move the ceremony to Thursday night because the forecast seems better.  I apologize for this last minute adjustment but we cannot take a chance of having students and families getting caught in severe weather.  There are many things that have to be adjusted and rescheduled to move the ceremony to Thursday therefore we will only do that in the event that they are still calling for severe weather.  We will be tracking things closely and will make a determination by 11:00 a.m.  If the forecast is just for rain, we will keep the event on Wednesday night since we have all event staff, Regional Police, photographers etc. already scheduled and the ability to move the diploma presentation under cover in the portico inside the pillars.  We understand that is difficult for families to change plans at the last minute and we want to honor the seniors appropriately but safety is our top priority.
