Mifflin County boys fall short against Boiling Springs

Tuesday, the MIfflin County boys soccer team fell to Boiling Springs under the lights at 7 pm 5-0 loss.
“We are very proud that are boys battled all night and never gave up against Boiling Springs,” said Mifflin County assistant Todd Peters. “They have a nice squad that has total team buy-in, plenty of senior maturity and with their mode of play it is something to see.”
“Zone marking and a relentless counterattack mixed with their talking all night long made it difficult for our guys.”
Mifflin County created some first half opportunities, but they earned the only goal of the half off a turnover in our own end with 8:21 left.
Both teams worked for five minutes out of the half but then they got two goals in six minutes with one on a fast counter and then struck again with a blister of a shot on a turnover. “We still went forward and had some success playing away from the zone gaps and had a header go off the crossbar, so our boys kept fighting but then they finished two more,” added Peters. “We love our boys bringing that never give up attitude to the pitch and our entire squad will be ready and willing to get back to work on what we need to do tomorrow and going forward.”
Boiling Springs outshot Mifflin County 16-5. MIfflin County’s Jack Suydam had 11 saves.
In the JV contest Mifflin County lost 8-1.
