Mifflin County falls in road contest to Boiling Springs

vs Boiling Springs 4-0 Loss at 4pm on 9/25

It was not the afternoon the MIfflin County boys soccer team was hoping for when they traveled to boiling Springs Thursday.

After a lengthy delay, the Bubblers used home field advantage and topped the Huskies 4-0.

“We were scheduled to start at 4:00. Instead we sat on the bus for 45 minutes as weather passed which can make it tough. Once we began the match, we stayed in our lanes but we gave up one after 12 minutes where we didn’t defend a run that we know they like to do, so that was frustrating,” said Mifflin County coach Todd Peters. “They then scored a goal with 8:46 remaining where we slept on a run off a trap on a throw in. Having some opportunities to go forward were presenting themselves but then we got put on our heels and instead of defending facing up we turned and gave up the third with 38 seconds left. Our second half was better in how we defended and some of the runs we decided to make but in the end we couldn’t generate a goal. They got one more 15 minutes into the second half, but we battled the entire second half. They are a good team, so to hold them to that total is a win.

“We did have to question some attitudes and that shouldn’t happen and our boys know that. We have to want more for ourselves all match long and contribute a no give up, full 100 percent hustle all night long in order to compete in all matches, not just one like this against a quality squad like Boiling Springs.”

Boiling Springs outshot Mifflin County 16-3 and in corners 7-1.

In the JV contest Boiling Springs won
