Mifflin County falls to Central Mountain in Friday nail biter

The Mifflin County Huskies lost the lead late in a 2-1 defeat to the Central Mountain Wildcats on Friday.  The game was tied at one with Central Mountain Wildcats batting in the bottom of the sixth when Gabe Johnson singled on a 2-2 count, scoring one run.

The pitching was strong on both sides. The Wildcats pitchers struck out ten, while Mifflin County sat down one.

The Huskies opened up scoring in the second inning, when Chase Brush induced Hayden Yoder to hit into a fielder’s choice, but one run scored.

Ashton Bennett got the win for Central Mountain. Bennett surrendered zero runs on one hit over three innings, striking out three.  Johnson threw one inning in relief out of the bullpen.  Johnson recorded the last three outs to earn the save for the Wildcats.

Ryan Hine took the loss for Mifflin County. The southpaw surrendered two runs on three hits over six innings, striking out one and walking one.

Brush started the game for Central Mountain. The pitcher surrendered one run on two hits over three innings, striking out four and walking one

Calin McKnight led Mifflin County with two hits in four at bats.
