MIfflin County girls send Harrisburg to overtime; takes home 74-64 OT victory

LEWISTOWN – Just What the doctor ordered.

The MIfflin County girls basketball team got back into the win column Thursday night in a big way, posting a 74-64 overtime win over Harrisburg.

Leading the way offensively for the Lady Huskies was a load of players.

Finishing with a game-high 24 was Brianna Bodtorf.

Teammates Kate Knable and Marissa Gingrich both finished with 19 en route to the victory.

Ah’ Nae Bobinson led the Cougars with 22 points while Kiairah Singleton posted 17 in a losing effort.

In the first period, the Huskies got off to a strong offensive start, outscoring Harrisburg 22-15.

Bodtorf posted 10 of the MIfflin County 22 points to lead the way.

Harrisburg tallied back in the second quarter as it posted a 20-14 advantage.

Going into the intermission, MIfflin County led  by a slim margin of 36-35.

Knable was the Huskies leading scorer in the period with five.

In the third, MIfflin County grabbed back the momentum as its defense held the Cougars to just nine points.

It’s offense continue to put points on the board, this period posting 15. Gingrich had eight points to lead the team.

But Harrisburg refused to go quietly into the night as it battled back to tie the game and send the contest into an extra period, outscoring the Huskies 18-11.

In the overtime period, the Lady Huskies defense stepped it up a notch and held the Cougars to just two points while they would score 12 to capture the win.

Leading the Lady Huskies to victory was Bodtorf with five.
