Mifflin County junior high teams enjoyed a banner day Thursday as they hosted Juniata and Suquenita at Indian Valley Elementary Center

Under perfect cross country running conditions, the Mifflin County junior high teams enjoyed a banner day Thursday as they hosted Juniata and Suquenita at Indian Valley Elementary Center.

Paced by Daliyah Bargas’ fifth meet win of the season, the Huskies’ girls scored a 23-32 victory over a Juniata squad with twice as many runners, and held off Susquenita 25-30. Mifflin County’s other four girls all logged PRs of 15-20 seconds: Lillen Adams finished third, Maddy Yoder was fourth, Jakayla Colon 15th, and Adalynn Lutz took 16th.

The MC boys, despite only four runners, still defeated Susquenita 29-30, but came up just short against Juniata 26-33. Levi Anderson claimed second place with Kenneth Swartzell third, and Adian Wible finished fifth for his highest place of the year and a 20 second PR. Nolan Wade completed the scoring for Mifflin County, matching his best time for the season.

Their meet schedule complete, the Huskies will close out the season next Saturday at the PA Middle School Championships at Lock Haven University.
