Mifflin County King of the Mountain results

MILL HALL – The Mifflin County wrestling team went 1512on the day, advancing six into the quarterfinal round on day one at the King of the Mountain tournament Friday.

The Huskies still have two wrestlers alive in consolations with quarterfinal action set to begin this morning at 10 a.m.

Nic Allison (106), Christian Fisher (120), Derek Burk (126), Trey Kibe (160), Brycen Hassinger (170) and Blaine Davis (285) advanced through the winner’s bracket to reach the quarterfinal round.

Still alive in the consolations are Ethan Kauffman (132) and Kyler Everly (138). Both wrestlers went 2-1 on the day.

“It was a really good day for us. I’m happy and I’m sure coach (Tyler) Bedelyon and the whole staff is happy,” Mifflin County assistant coach Dale Searer said. “What we have to do tomorrow is take it a period at a time. If we’re up, we’re going to try and stay up. We can’t give up the big move or anything like that. I’ll we need to do now is wrestle smart and keep winning. We have to stay focused and take it a period at a time.”

Allison, the fifth seed, moved to 6-0 on the season with a first-round fall over Anthony Stover of Saegertown in 2:12 and a 3:27 clamping of State College’s Bailey Weaverling in the second round. The Husky freshman meets Owen Reinsel of Brookville in the quarterfinals beginning at 10 a.m. this morning.

Fisher (6-0), seeded fourth, made short work of Muncy’s Grady Oden (fall in 1:13) before beating David Forrest of Owen J. Roberts 7-4 in the second round. The Husky senior and two-time state placer battles Max Mendez of Council Rock South in the quarters.

Burk (6-0) opened with a 6-0 shutout of Parker Fleming of Brookville before advancing to the quarters with a pin in three minutes over Jacob Dunleavy of Owen J. Roberts. Burk will take on Owen Wolcott of State College in the quarterfinals.

Kibe, the top seed, had a bye in the first round before making short work of Warrior Run’s Sa, Crawford, pinning him in 1:54. Kibe will face Tony Zona of Penn Trafford in the quarters.

Hassinger continued his hot start with a major decision and a fall. The Husky sophomore, now 6-0 on the season, majored Andrew Howe of Bellefonte 10-1 and recorded a 5:55 fall oversixth seed Elliott Park of Brookville. Hassinger tangles with third seed Brent Burbules of Fort LeBoeuf this morning.

After receiving a bye in the first round, Davis knocked off eighth seed Lucas Donovan of Big Spring, pinning him in 1:02. Next up is top seed Colby Whitehill of Brookville in the quarters.

Kauffman won by a 20-3 technical fall before dropping his second-round match to Byron Daubert of Forest Hills, 7-4. Kauffman stayed alive with a pin over Justin Tran of West Chester Henderson in 2:32.

Everly started the tournament with a 7-4 win over Michael Abbate of General McLane. He dropped into the consolations after losing to Cole Meredith of Owen J. Roberts, 12-7. The Husky freshman bounced back with a 7-4 victory over Colton Connor of North Star.

Cade Rishel (0-2 at 113), Anson Wagner (1-2 at 152), Hayden Crum (0-2 at 182), Aaron Henry (0-2 at 195) and Isaac Matthews (0-2 at 220) were eliminated in consolations. Mifflin County did not have an entry at 145 pounds.
