Mifflin County matmen renew rivalry with State College; takes 34-28 victory

STATE COLLEGE – A rivalry renewed!
The Mifflin County wrestling team traveled North to do battle with their rival State College Wednesday night.
It would be a nailbiter throughout but in the end the Huskies would muscle out the hard fought 34-28 victory.
The night started at the 285-pound weight class. Anson Wagner picked up a third period over Shane Focht at 5:40.
State College battled back at 106. Johnathan Coates tied the match at 6-6 with a pin over Styers Oden at 2:21.
Huskies stand out Nic Allison picked up the easy win as he picked up the forfeit victory at 113.
Again, State College rebounded and 120-pounder Asher Cunningham won by a major decision over Hunter Johnson,10-0.
State College also took the 126-pound weight class when Eric Weaver muscled out a 4-1 decision over Colby Seiler.
Mifflin County got back on the scoreboard at 132. Blake Aumiller went toe-to-toe with Jacob Campbell and came out the victors of a 7-5 slim margin.
State’s Owen Barr picked up the win at 138 with a 9-4 decision over Lucas Sheetz.
State College took the 145-pound contest as Pierson Manville pinned over Cyrus Orwig at 1:16.
Mifflin County rebounded sharply at 152. Husky Deakon Schaeffer pinned Daevon Stafford at 3:40.
Parker Kearns made it consecutive wins and at 160. Kearns outlasted Joshua Hershbine by Major decision 12-3.
172-pounder Kyler Everly won over Braden Newby UTB 2-2.
At 189, Trey Shoemaker continues to roll as he pinned Carter Weaverling at 3:31.
Rounding out the match at 215, State College’s Nicholas Pavlechko pinned Tucker Crum at 1:55.
