Mifflin County relay teams shine at Mid-Penn Championships

Mifflin County’s Track and Field team had a great day at the Mid Penn Championships. Every school in the Mid Penn Conference competes in this meet, regardless of division or classification. The athletes must meet a high qualifying standard to gain entry into the event. Additionally, all teams are given one entry for each relay event.  Seventeen Mifflin County track athletes qualified for the meet. Two of the Husky relays and two individuals made a mark for themselves in the top 8 scoring places. The boys 4×800 team opened the meet with a second place finish in a time of 8:00.72. Running this relay in their second fastest time of the season were Caden Bell, Wyatt Kauffman, Carter Smith and Tylor Druckemiller. Next, Carter Smith took first place in the 1600m run with a a school record time of 4:14.05. Myka Simmons sprinted into an 11.11 third place finish in the 100 and a 22.72 second place finish in the 200. To finish off these top performances, the boys 4×400 relay of Myka Simmons, Caden Bell, Tylor Druckemiller and Carter Smith ran the race in 3:29.33, taking fourth place in the event. The Huskies travel to Altoona on Tuesday and Wednesday for the District 6 Championships.
