Mifflin County Varsity Huskies Lose To Mechanicsburg

The Mifflin County Huskies softball team could not keep pace with Mechanicsburg falling 7-2 on Wednesday.

Mifflin County got on the board in the first inning after Ava Baker singled, scoring one run.

Mackinley Giblin singled down the left field line, which helped Mechanicsburg tie the game at one in the bottom of the first.

Mechanicsburg took the lead in the bottom of the second. Mia Masser grounded out, scoring one run, to give Mechanicsburg the edge, 2-1.

Baker doubled to left field, which helped the Lady Huskies tie the game at two in the top of the third.

Mechanicsburg jumped back into the lead in the bottom of the third inning after Asha Pratt singled to center field, Chelsea Heckert singled down the left field line, and Jadyn Brubaker grounded out, each scoring one run.

Jada Lacey earned the win for Mechanicsburg. The hurler allowed four hits and two runs (one earned) over seven innings, striking out six and walking two. Piper Specht took the loss for Mifflin County. The starter went three innings, surrendering five runs on seven hits, striking out one and walking one.

Baker drove the middle of the lineup, leading the Huskies with two runs batted in. The cleanup hitter went 2-for-3 on the day. Mifflin County didn’t commit a single error in the field. Specht had the most chances in the field with seven.

Mechanicsburg amassed 12 hits in the game. Reagan Condon, Pratt, Heckert, and Emmie Kuhn each collected two hits for Mechanicsburg. Masser, Pratt, Heckert, Lacey, and Giblin each drove in one run for Mechanicsburg. Mechanicsburg stole four bases in the game.

Mifflin County welcome Mount Union on Friday for their next game.
