MIfflin County XC sweeps Tigers in season finale

It was another strong performance by the MIfflin County cross country team as they defeated Hollidaysburg in both boys and girls action.

Gearing up for the upcoming Mid-Penn Championships both of MIfflin County’s top runners, Brayden Harris and Kylee Cubbison finished in the top spot.

The girls topped the Tigers 19-42 while the boys finished with a 25-31 victory.

On the girls’ side, Cubbison finished with a top time of 19:47.

Teammate Addie Parson finished second with a time of 21:05.

Ava Harris and Justice Sheaffer finished with fourth and fifth places finishes with times of 23:10 and 24:18, respectively.

“The ladies took control of the last meet of the season. They took four of the top five spots against Hollidaysburg“, said MIfflin County girls coach Jennifer Freed. “They only allowed two Hollidaysburg  runners to finish in the top nine. They were looking forward to today’s race and they are looking forward to the Mid-Penns.”

Harris led a boys team contingent with a top nod of 16:31.

Chris Royer finished fourth with a finishing time of 17:56.

Rounding out the top five was MIfflin County’s CJ Coffey who finished with a time of 18:17.

“It was nice to finish the regular season with a win against a very pesky Hollidaysburg team“, said MIfflin County boys coach Greg Loht. “It was a two lap course and after the first lap I thought we were in trouble but they bared down and ran a very impressive second part of the race. It was definitely a total team effort tonight.”

On the boys junior high, Reese Cubbison finished second.
