Mounties clinch post season berth

Hamburg, NY – The Mount Aloysius women’s basketball team defeated host Hilbert College by a final score of 72-56 on Saturday afternoon to earn the #4 seed in the upcoming AMCC Tournament.

With the victory in the regular season finale, the Mounties will now host #5 seed Penn State Behrend on Wednesday evening at 7 p.m. The winner will move on to play #1 seed La Roche in the AMCC semifinals on Saturday.

Mount Aloysius controlled play from the outset of the game as the Mounties raced to a 15-2 advantage capped by a three-point shot from Breana Kendrick just over two and a half minutes into the game. The visitors led 21-9 after the first quarter and expanded their advantage to 34-14 with 5:35 to go in the second quarter courtesy of a shot from behind the arc from Abby Kulick. The Mounties led 39-25 at halftime and led by as much as 22 points in the second half. The Hawks never got within single digits over the final 20 minutes of play.

Jessa Wright paced the Mountie attack with 23 points on the strength of a 5-for-8 showing from behind the arc. Kendrick finished in double figures with 13 points. Katie Bracken recorded nine points and four assists, while Kulick notched nine points and six rebounds. Antwanye’ Parks registered eight points and nine rebounds for Mount Aloysius.

The Mounties conclude the regular season portion of their schedule with an overall record of 11-14 and conference record of 9-9.
