Mounties hold off Penns Valley in prime time ML battle

Back on track.
After a tough loss to MIfflin County over the weekend, the Philipsburg-Osceola boys basketball team got back to its winning ways Tuesday by topping Penns Valley in a road Mountain League contest.
The Mounties came out on top 43-39.
Back from being under the weather, Ryan Whitehead led the way for Philipsburg-Osceola with a game high 19-point effort.
Penns Valley got a 14-point effort by John Aston.
Teammate Zach Braucht just missed double-digit scoring with a 9-point night.
Starting off the contest, the Mounties were off and running with a 17-8 first quarter advantage.
The Rams defense slowed the PO offense and outscored them 9-8.
However, the Mounties took the 25-17 lead into the intermission.
Penns Valley continued to chip into the Mounties lead, posting a 14-10 advantage closing it to 35-31 deficit.
In the fourth quarter, both teams battled evenly back and forth and ended the game tied at eight in the period, giving the Mounties the victory.
