MU baseball takes care of Bellwood-Antis
After a nearly two week period of no games played, the Mount Union Trojans made their return to the field and got right back in the win column defeating rival Bellwood-Antis by the final of 7-1 in ICC baseball action.
The Trojans got going in the bottom of the second inning driving in a run thanks to starting pitcher Tyler Renninger who singled to center field that brought home Vince Lear.
The Blue Devils even the score in the top half of the third with a single to left by Cooper Guyer bringing in Nick Kost.
Mount Union got back the lead in the bottom of the fourth inning where they added another run in the frame thanks to the efforts of Ian Brodbeck who singled to left field to score Landon Chrisemer to make it a 2-1 ball game.
The Trojans added yet another run in the following inning Bryce Danish smashed the ball to right center for a single that scored Cainen Atherton to extend the lead to 3-1.
Then in the bottom of the sixth inning, the Trojans put the game on ice as they would add four more runs in the frame as mistakes began to pile up on Bellwood-Antis. One such example was Lear scoring on an error throw from third to make it 4-1.
Renninger singled to left to bring home Brodbeck extending it to 5-1. Ryan Plank then came on to run for Renninger who managed to score on another error by the Blue Devils. Finally Danish then singled to left center allowing Dayvon Wilson to score.
