O’Donnell 31 points lead Juniata to win over Newport

Juniata’s Manny O’Donnell finished with a Double double performance with 31 points, four defensive rebounds and six offensive rebounds leading his team to a 57-33 victory over Newport.

Teammate GG Ortiz followed with a 14-point effort.

With the win Juniata increases to a record of 2-0.

The Indians broke out the game with a high scoring first quarter posting a 15-13 advantage after one.

Both defenses came out in the second period as Juniata posted nine while the Buffaloes scored six.

Going into the intermission,the Indians led 24-19.

In the second half, the Indians continued to hold the momentum as they outscored Newport 13-9.

Rounding out the scoring in the final stanza,Juniata clinched the win with a 18-point quarter en route to the win.

Next game Juniata is home to West Perry on January 23.
