Penns Valley tops Tyrone 7-3

Penns Valley made it eight in a row on a wet and dreary afternoon where players had lots of trouble keeping their footing during the match. But the Rams footing in D6 and Mountain League standings keeps getting more solid.

Senior Forward Michael Johnson continued his offensive onslaught in the league by adding another four goals and an assist while senior teammates Air (Connor) Martz and Caleb Narber added a goal and a two assists respectively. Juniors Adian Culver and Danny Gray both found the back of the net with precision finishes for the Rams.

Penns Valley coach Ken Gore said his team is playing with massive confidence that has been growing game by game.

“We came off a 3-0 week last week and that fierce OT win on Thursday night and kept rolling today. Our scoring distribution is excellent, our passing is perceptive, our control is solid. This group of guys is just an extraordinary family and really I love them! We have this little phrase we use at times – ‘Team. Family. Heart’. Well that is a perfect description for this band of brothers.”

The Rams finish up their regular season this week with a game at Central tomorrow and their final home engagement with Clearfield on Thursday.

“It will be interesting to see where we go next week [in the playoffs]. We have put in a prodigious amount of work to get to where we are and every guy on this team – especially a special group of seniors – is excited to see how far we can go. Whatever happens, we’ve already met and exceeded everyone’s expectations – and that is the perfect place to be in late October.”
