Penns Valley wrestlers top Huntingdon in opener of Penns Valley Tri-Meet

SPRING MILLS – Despite giving up two weights to a forfeit, the Penns Valley wrestling team dominated the mats en route to a 43-19 victory in the opening round of the Penns Valley Tri-Meet Thursday.

The Rams opened up the match at 106.

Colton Shunk rallied back from being down 2-0. Shunk took care of things from there rallying for the 7-2 win.

Huntingdon took the lead at 113 when Landon Dunsmore took the lead with a 12-4 major decision over Chase Herman.

The Bearcats’ Sean Buckley notched a forfeit at 120.

Justin Darlington got the Rams back into the win column picking up the 9-1 major decision.

Teammate Ty Watson put his team back into the lead as he took care of Eden Watson with a 14-2 major decision, making it an 11-10 advantage.

At 138, Nate Long added to the Penns Valley lead as he outlasted Trenton Cook 4-1.

Huntingdon cut the lead to just one point 145-pounder Devin Brenneman topped Noah Fetterhoff 4-2, making it 14-13.

Penns Valley got back to its winning ways when Dristen Wolfe put his team on the road to winning its final five of six with his pinning of Owen Garlock with 14.8 seconds left in the third quarter.

At 160, the Rams scored a forfeit win from Michael Hill.

170-pounder Cole Felker notched a pin of his own over Kyle Barnett in the third with 1:24 left.

Malachi DuVall picked up a tech fall , topping Myles Baney 19-4.

Ben Sharer rounded out the win with a pin at 3.4 seconds in the first , sending the Rams to a 1-0 record heading into their match against Bellefonte.
