Homer Maney Memorial Field in Chester Hill was the venue on July 1 for the 10 and Under Little League All-Star Game. The Philipsburg 10U won the tough run scoring contest over Huntingdon 9-7. “Dustin Minarchick, Philipsburg Little League President and team Assistant Coach, said “It was a strong effort by our team. We were down by two runs early but we kept chipping away at their lead the entire game. It was our players’ strong pitching, defense and timely hitting.” Philipsburg scored 9 runs on 6 hits while Huntingdon made a close game of it with 7 hits and scoring 7 runs. Nick Minarchick led Philipsburg going two for three and scoring 2 runs. For Huntingdon, it was left fielder G. Conner with two hits and two RBIs.
Philipsburg All-Stars Second Place, July 8, 2024
The Philipsburg 10 and Under Little League All-Stars took Second Place in the District 5 playoffs. The Philipsburg 10U All-Stars worked their way up the bracket by beating Bald Eagle Area All-Stars 8 -6, then Huntingdon 9- 7, to make their bid for a District 5 title game against Hollidaysburg. Their fortunes were not realized as Hollidaysburg won the District 5 championship by a score of 8-0. Mason Lesko got the lone hit for Philipsburg. “We are really proud of our team for being resilient” said Philipsburg Little League President and Assistant Coach, Dustin Minarchick. “We started out slow but worked our way up to second place which is pretty good for the year,” stated Minarchick. The boys will now play in tournaments throughout the summer.
