Philipsburg-Osceola Lady Mounties Secure Upset Win Against Forest Hills Varsity Rangers

Philipsburg-Osceola Varsity Lady Mounties were triumphant over the Forest Hills Rangers 7-4 on Monday in the opening round of District 6 post season play l.
A fielder’s choice by Mylee Gdula put the Lady Rangers on the board in the bottom of the first.
In the top of the second inning, Philipsburg-Osceola went back into the lead after Forest Hills committed an error, and the Lady Mounties scored on a passed ball, each scoring one run.
A fielder’s choice by Alivia Bizzarri, a tag up by Emily Gustkey, and a double by Morgan Vaughn helped Philipsburg-Osceola extend their early lead in the third.
Bizzarri earned the win for the Lady Mounties. The righty gave up six hits and four runs (two earned) over seven innings, striking out two and walking three. Avery Smiach took the loss for the Rangers. The righty went seven innings, allowing seven runs (five earned) on seven hits, striking out 12 and walking one.
Vaughn went 1-for-3 at the plate and led the team with two runs batted in. Gustkey and Ashlyn Havens each collected two hits for Philipsburg-Osceola.
Gdula, Ana Spangler, and Smiach each drove in one run for Forest Hills. Taylor Snyder led Forest Hills with two hits in four at bats.
