PO holds onto victory over BEA in nail biter

Friday night, two Mountain League does met and battled to a “instant classic game” as the Philipsburg-Osceola boys defeated Bald Eagle in a nail biting 61-54 victory.

With the loss, Bald falls to a record of 1-4 while the Mounties are now 3-3.

Ryan Whitehead led the way for the Mounties with a 19-point effort while teammate Jake Desimore followed with 16.

Rounding out the double-digit scorers was Kaleb Richardson with 10.

Bald Eagle got a strong scoring performance by Jaden Jones with 19. Teammates Nick Maynard and Nate Hoover finishes with 16 and 13, respectively.

Jones had five triples while Maynard had three.

Bald Eagle started with the hot hand, posting a 16-10 lead after one.

However, the Mounties shooting would come alive in the second, outscoring the Eagles 20-9 and also taking a 29-26 lead into the intermission.

After a hard fought third quarter PO was able to escape a 21-19 quarter, taking a 5-point lead into the final stanza.

Unfortunately for the Eagles, their offense couldn’t gain any ground in the fourth as the two both posted 10 points in the quarter, securing the win for the Mounties.

In JV action, BEA defeated PO 40-36.
