PV XC girls go 3-1 at match; defeats Grier, BEA and Hollidaysburg

Yesterday the Penns Valley Girls cross country team competed against Hollidaysburg, Bald Eagle Area, Portage, and Grier at a meet in Hollidaysburg.

The Lady Rams went 3-1 on the day as they topped BEA by forfeit,

and defeated Hollidaysburg by a score of 20-35.

Rounding out the wins for Penns Valley girls was Grier by a score of 17-19.

PV fell to Portage by a score of 33-23 in its only loss on the night.

This brings the girls record to 5-1 and they remain undefeated in the Mt League.

Anna Stitzer won the race with a new course record of 19:14, Abby Stitzer was 5th in 21:47, Ann-Marie McMurtrie was 12th in 26:10, and Ayva Fetterolf was 13th in 27:30.

“We were very pleased with today’s results as we were running one girl short due to an injury.  Anna had a remarkable performance against some stiff competition, said Penns Valley coach Lynda Frederinko.

The boys team ran against Hollidaysburg, BEA, and Portage on Tuesday.

PV defeated BEA notched its first win of the season 19-36.

PV lost to Hollidaysburg (45-18)

and to Portage (29-26).

This brings the boys record to 1-5

Leading the way for the Rams was McClain Reamer finishing 4th in 19:13.

Teammate Vince Smith was 14th in 21:38 while Simon Smith was 16th in 22:09.

Rounding out the Rams runners were Dilon Reilly in 20th in 23:49, and Matthew Wheeland placing 24th in 25:10.

“McClain continues to lead the team and is running comfortably.  We finally have a full team and we now need to work on improving their conditioning and health,” said Federinko.
