Road Warriors: Penns Valley softball dominates Blairsville

Despite being on the road for their opening round of the District 6 softball playoffs, the Penns Valley softball team came back early, topping Blairsville 15-3 in five innings.

Kendra Bumgardner picked up the win as she tallied five strikeouts and three hits.

Blairsville’s hurler Hannah Foust took the loss finishing with four strikeouts and four walks and 14 hits.

Leading the Lady Rams offense were Allie O’Brien – double, 2 runs scored Avery Dinges (double, HR, 3 runs scored, 2 RBIs), Kendra Bumgardner (2 singles, HR, 2 runs scored, 3 RBIs), Ellie Coursen (single, 3 runs scored),Noelle Webb (single, HR, 4 RBIs, 2 runs scored),

Kailen Winkelblech (single, RBI, run scored), Avelyn Van Heyst (single, double, RBI, run scored) and Scotty Dinges (2 singles, run scored, stolen base).

Penns Valley led off the contest with a 2-run first.

Blairsville cut the lead in half in the bottom of the second as they picked up a run.

Back battled Penns Valley in the third as it scratched and clawed for two more runs.

Blairsville retaliated in the bottom of the inning, keeping it a 4-3 contest.

From there, the Lady Rams bats exploded to score 11 uncontested runs en route to the 15-3 win and a second round appearance.
