Royals top Rebels in battle of Reedsville in MC title game

The Future of the MIfflin County softball program gets brighter and brighter after each year.

Friday night the Reedsville Rebels met up with rival Reedsville Royals met up to do battle for the 2022 MIfflin County Minor League softball championship.

In the contest, both offenses were sizzling as they combined for 40 runs in the title tilt.

In the end, the Royals would have the final say, winning 22-18 at Snyder Field in Reedsville.

Leading the Royals offense was Lucy Breon who finished with a 4-for-5 night with three runs and 5 RBIs.

Evelyn Parks was next with three hits in the contest.

Teammate Addison Carolus, Hannah Mannino and Alivia Rhodes all finished with two hits, rounding out the multiple hitters for the Royals.

The Rebels offense was led by the hitting of Addelyn Weaver and Ella Metzler and Payson Ross, who combined for nine hits (3 hits each).

Teammates Lyana Huffman and Adalia Gallo both had two hits each.

In the top of the first, the Rebels picked up a run.

The Royals had built up a 22-13 advantage going into the top of the sixth.

Back battled the Rebels as they were able to pick up a rally and score five runs in the inning.

However, it was too little as the Royals were crowned after a back-and-forth championship battle.

The Royals came out strong posting a run in the first.

With one out in the opening inning. Addelyn Weaver started things off with a single.

She moved to third on a single by Ella Metzler.

She scored on a RBI fielders choice by Addison Kauffman.

The Royals rebounded sharply, picking up five in the bottom of the inning.

As both teams walked off the field, their friendships and their sportsmanship shone through the game that the two had just played and walked off the field both as winners.
