BOALSBURG, Pa.–Saint Joseph’s Catholic Academy senior Myah Chappell signed her National Letter of Intent via Zoom. Surrounded by her family at home and joined electronically by her grandparents, Cross Country and Track and Field coach Jayson Jackson, and Athletic Director Dr. Justin Rodkey, Chappell signed her National Letter of Intent to continue both her academic and athletic careers at Lock Haven University. Saint Joseph’s Director of Athletics and Student Activities, Dr. Justin Rodkey, opened the ceremony with a few words. “Myah, a Cross Country & Track & Field student-athlete, has decided to make a commitment to her future coaches and institution. Myah has worked hard, both on and off the field. She brought leadership to her team, was supportive, battled through injuries, and was committed to improving each day. No matter the weather outside, she found a way to work through the elements and often times had a smile on her face. Myah has remained resilient, persevered, and earned the opportunity to continue her career and pursue her dreams.” Chappell selected Lock Haven because it had some similarities to Saint Joseph’s. “I went and visited Lock Haven and I liked the atmosphere of the campus. I loved the track– based on a few meets we competed there. After getting to know the team, seeing some classes, and meeting some of the students I was impressed that they also had that family atmosphere that we have Saint Joe’s. That drew me in really fast and I was hooked from there.” Over her time at Saint Joseph’s, Chappell has been one of the few athletes to earn medals in Cross Country, Indoor Track, and Outdoor Track. Coach Jackson said that the program’s accolades were due in part to Chappell’s energy “that she brought to practice every single day. It was contagious. She always has a smile on her face and if she doesn’t, she is always trying to bring a smile to other’s faces.” Dr. Rodkey concluded the signing ceremony by saying, “Myah we are proud of you, we are looking forward to following your career once you depart from us, and we will support you has you press on towards your goals. You will forever be what few can claim, you are part of the Saint Joe’s WolfPack.”
