SC field hockey back on track; notches win over Cedar Cliff

State College Field Hockey traveled to play Cedar Cliff at West Shore Stadium on Monday, Oct. 26. Even on their home turf, Cedar Cliff was unable to stop State College’s passing game. SC had their first goal with :26 seconds left in the first quarter on a penalty corner when Rebecca Bonness drove a straight shot into the goal from an insert from Leah Moyer’s to put SC in the lead, 1-0. State College had another opportunity to score in the second quarter on a penalty stroke at 11:06 but was unable to convert. A few minutes later at 6:34 in the second quarter, Phebe Herlocher drove the ball toward the goal and Leah Moyer tipped it into the cage to put SC ahead 2-0. State College scored their third and final goal in the third quarter at 13:00 on a shot from Rebecca Bonness to Maddy Shomo, who tipped it into the back of the net, putting SC ahead 3-0. Cedar Cliff continued to fight to stop State College’s passing game and regain possession but were unable to stop the Little Lions and the game ended 3-0. SC had 8 penalty corners, 7 shots on goal, 3 goalkeeper saves and 1 penalty stroke to Cedar Cliff’s 3 penalty corners, 3 shots on goal and 4 goalkeeper saves. State College is now 8-3-1 for the season and will host Central Dauphin at the SCAHS North Turf field on Wednesday.

State College will host Central Dauphin at the SCAHS North Turf field on Wednesday, 10/28. JV game begins at 5:00 PM and Varsity begins at 6:30 PM.
