SC field hockey team continues to sizzle; drops Cedar Cliff

Chalk up another win for the Lions!

Starting the game off strong, the Little Lions were able to hold their throughout their contest versus Cedar Cliff Tuesday, winning 4-1 and upping their record to 6-1.

State College scored an early goal by Phebe Herlocher, assisted by Liv Miller. Later in the quarter, Sierra Grande came flying from the side and was able to lift the ball into the top right corner for her first goal of the season. Minutes later, Phebe Herlocher took a pass from Sydney O’Donnell and rocketed it toward a poised Mckenna Burke waiting to tip the ball by a defenseless goalie making the score 3-0 heading into half.  

Cedar Cliff came out strong in the third quarter when Kalene Faircloth put them on the scoreboard.

The Little Lions quickly worked the ball downfield earning a much needed corner.The teams battled till the end of the quarter when the Little Lions converted another penalty corner. Midfielder Hannah Garlin stopped the ball in front of the goalie and with a swift pull, put it in the back of the net. This made the score 4-1 entering the 4th quarter. After a strong defensive battle late in the fourth, the final score was 4-1 in favor of the Little Lions.

 

State College is now 6-1 and 5-0 in MPC Commonwealth division.
