Sechler highlights opening MC meet with record launch

It was a great meet for the MCHS track and field team in Chambersburg Saturday. Highlighting the day for the boys was double winner Josiah Sechler.  Josiah started the day off heaving the javelin to a school record 181’11” mark.  That distance currently ranks him PA #1 and also qualifies him for the upcoming Penn Relays in April.  Josiah later capped the day off winning the long jump with a leap of 22’3”.  Dillon Wert also had a great day winning the triple jump with a personal best of 44’4.5”.  Caden Kauffman also had a great day placing 4th in both the high jump and triple jump.  On the girls side, we picked up great performances from Lily Yoder in the 400 and long jump placing third in both, and Kylee Cubbison placing 4th in the 1600 and third in the 3200.

“Overall it was a great day for our athletes considering the weather conditions.  I’m very proud of our kids for their grit and determination to compete well today,” said MIfflin County Coach Scot Sechler.  “To have so many personal bests, and one school record on the first meet of the year is a testament to the hard work and dedication that that athletes and coaches have put into the preseason.”
