Senior Night Delight; MC honors seniors with win over Hershey

Tonight was the night to recognize the seniors of the Mifflin County Lady Husky Soccer team. They did not disappoint as they beat Hershey 3-1.

Aubrey Strohecker started the scoring at 34:23 when she picked up a pass from Brynn Knepp and put it past the Hershey keeper giving the Huskies a 1-0 advantage.

Strohecker finished the day with a hat trick to pace her team.

Strohecker again found the back of the net at 36:03. The goal was complimented by a Leah Alexander assist putting the Huskies up by 2.

Huskies held the two goal lead going into halftime.

Hershey, who pressured the Husky defense all game long finally got one past the Husky keeper; Bailey McNitt, cutting the lead to 2-1 at 53:07. Scoring Hershey’s unassisted goal was Catherine Martin.

Husky midfielder, Rylee Rutherford, wasted little time winning possession of a loose ball and playing it wide to Strohecker. After initially being stopped, Strohecker battled and won the loose ball in front of the net and put it in the corner of the goal giving the Huskies a 3-1 lead at 53:35.

With over 20 minutes remaining, the Husky defenders stepped up and kept Hershey from scoring another goal. Kate Bickhart, Ella Kammerer, Sadie Fike, and Kirsten Milliron came up strong on the back line. Sarah Henry battled, winning multiple loose balls and feeding the offensive push throughout the entire game.

Senior keeper, McNitt had 9 saves on the night. Hershey keeper, Hanna Russell had 4 saves.

The Lady Husky seniors recognized this evening were: Kate Bickhart, Morgan Diven, Sarah Henry, Kirsten Milliron, Ella Kammerer, Sadie Fike, Elise Wagner, Alex Leonard, Aubrey Strohecker, and Bailey McNitt.
