Shafranich takes next step in softball career, signs with Pitt-Bradford

Editor’s Note – Last night, MIfflin County softball player Reagan Shafranich took center stage as she signed her letter of intent to play at the college level for Pitt-Bradford. She is entering her senior year for the Lady Huskies. We caught with her after his celebration of taking her game to the next level.

HS: How did you feel when you got the official word that you were selected to compete in softball at Pitt – Bradford?

RS: I remember when coach Phillips offered me the spot. I felt that all my hard work and proving the doctors wrong finally paid off.

 

HS: What made to set your sites on Pitt -Bradford? What did you like most about the college?

RS: I like the education program that they offer and how flat and small the campus is.

 

HS: What position will you play for the Panthers?

RS: I will be playing in the outfield.  

 

HS: What’s are going to major in? 

RS: I will be furthering my education in Secondary education in social studies.

HS: What was your experience like heading on campus for the first time at the school? 

RS: My experience was a great first experience I got to meet almost all the team while getting to see all of the facilities. Three of the girls took me on a tour as well. It feels absolutely amazing!

HS: How does it feel to be playing at the next level ?

RS: It feels like all the hours I’ve put into the sport as finally paid off.

HS: Who has been big influences in your softball career?

RS: My biggest influences have been my parents and all my coaches. My parents have spent so much money on travel and taught me the sport I love and have dedicated so many hours into to this sport with me. To my coaches who have never gave up on me drilled in my head that whatever dreams you want in life your can accomplish. Also when  you fall to get back up and do it again.

HS: What age did you start participating in softball?

RS: I started at the age of three years old.

HS: What’s it been like playing for the Huskies the last few years? How much has that prepared you for college competition?

RS: It taught me to work with girls that I’ve never play before and built new friendships along the way.

 

HS: What is your favorite sports memory that you cherish during high school so far?

RS: My favorite sports memory is coming back on the field after battling medical issues and going 5 -for-5 at the plate.

 

HS: What would you say is you biggest strength ?

RS: My biggest strength is that I can play anyone a coach would put me.

 

HS: What are your goals for your college tenure? Could be athletics and/or education wise? 

RS: My individual goal is to be a great teammate and leader and having a good batting average. My goals are for college to succeed well in the class and keep grinding for my goals.

HS: What advice would you give to any younger athlete starting softball ?

RS: My advice is to you if want it chase it. Never give up! Everybody has their moments of question but just keep pushing and good will come out of it.
