Smith has second parade in his honor after capturing state title
LEWISTOWN- Seems like old times.
For the second time this year, Mifflin County runner Carter Smith had a parade in his honor.
The first was earlier in the year when the junior captured the PIAA state championship in the 800-meter run.
Fast forward to the fall when Smith decided to give cross country a chance.
Not only did he excel but in the process of learning the ropes, his path has been one legends are made of as he finished first in all of his races but one. In the one he didn’t finish first, he had finished a close second.
This past Saturday, the Husky runner completed his first season in style, capturing the PIAA championship title posting a finishing time of time of 15:41.
Monday with the help of fans and the local fire departments, Smith was given his second parade route.
They started the parade at Red’s Diner and through town and ending the route of champions at the Mifflin County High School.
It might be just another one of many more to come if he stays healthy.
Congratulations!!!
