State College Area Roller Derby 10th Annual St. Valentine’s Day Massacre Game

State College, PA (January 15, 2020) The 2020 State College Area Roller (SCAR) Derby Board of Directors and Coaching Staff are pleased to announce the 10th Annual St. Valentine’s Day Massacre Game will be held on February 8, 2020 at 5pm at Penn Skates Roller Rink.
The evening will kick off SCAR Derby’s tenth season and feature a full-length roller derby game between SCAR Derby’s home teams, the Mount Nittany Mayhem and the Pennsyltucky Punishers. SCAR Derby will be partnering with the National MS Society to raise awareness for their Happy Valley Connections Group; representatives and more information will be available at the game.
“We can’t wait for everyone to join us for another great night of fierce females enjoying full- contact fun and fitness!” said Amber Shaw, founding member and active skater of State College Area Roller Derby. “The Massacre is always a great game with new skaters making their public debut along with the more veteran skaters you know and love. If you’re looking for a fun, creative Valentine’s date, this is sure to impress. Although, be careful, your date might run away to join the roller derby team!”
About State College Area Roller Derby
SCAR Derby is a skater-owned and operated women’s flat-track derby league founded in 2010. We are a volunteer organization, including skater athletes, referees, and officials. Our membership is comprised of women and men from the Centre Region spanning a wide range of ages and lifestyles. Together, we form a strong community of athleticism, healthy competition and fellowship. In 2015, SCAR Derby proudly became a member of Women’s Flat Track Derby Association (WFTDA) and now competes for an international ranking. SCAR Derby has a travel A-team, a travel B-team, and two home teams who practice year-round and compete from February through November. While our league is based in State College, our season schedule can take us anywhere from New York to Maryland, Ohio to New Jersey. We operate as a 501(c)3 non-profit organization, funded by league dues, ticket sales, skating clinic fees, sponsorship/ad sales and donations
