State College field hockey grinds out tough win against Allegheny

In their season opener, State College Varsity came out on fire, rocketing 19 shots from 8 different players earning 4 penalty corners and giving up zero shots on goal. North Allegheny’s defense held on strong until 12:21 left in the game. The lone goal came after a flurry in front of the net, co-captain Phebe Herlocher pulled the ball out of the melay and found the back of the cage. State College’s defense, led by co-captain Leah Moyer, showed up big today, holding the Tigers to zero shots and zero penalty corners. Junior goalie, Molly Schreiner earned her first shut out on the season.
